Hell's Backbone

Capitol Reef

Travel east from the Aquarius Inn in Bicknell, Utah and make your way toward Capitol Reef National Park. Enjoy the drive on HIghway 24 though Capitol Reef or stop along the way at the Visitor Center, ancient petroglyphs, historic sites, and hiking trails.

Capitol Reef National Park

Utah’s Capitol Reef National Park is a 70 mile long fold in the earth’s crust. The area is referred to as the Waterpocket Fold and features an astounding array of rock formations. Hiking trails are abundant and roads lead through and around the park. Learn more about Capitol Reef here.

Highway 12

Cathedral Valley

From the Caineville area on the east side of Capitol Reef area, you’ll turn north on a dirt road that winds it’s way northwest to the Cathedral Valley area. You’ll pass scenic formations all along the way. Bring a lunch, snacks, water or other drinks and especially your camera.

Fish Creek

Fishlake National Forest

As you swing west out of the Cathedral Valley area you’ll turn south in the Fishlake National Forest and work your way back toward Bicknell and the Aquarius Inn
